Weardale
Tapestry

Everyone was very favourably impressed with the Chapel and Museum collection of exhibits, especially the Weardale Tapestry which we all felt was a really fine piece of work depicting the region’s history so comprehensively and with such imagination and skill.

Chris Gibson, Howden-le-Wear Historical Society, June 17 2009.

New.

The history of Weardale, from times when our geology was formed until the present day,  is depicted in vibrant colour and intricate needlework in this amazing freestyle embroidery by ‘Friends in Stitches’.

The 16 foot tapestry in five large panels can be seen at Museum during opening hours.

We welcome groups who wish to view the Tapestry but would ask you to pre-book your visit as our venue is quite small.
