Attractions in and around Weardale
Firstly visit The Weardale Museum, you won’t be disappointed. Explore the lead-mining heritage of the North Pennines at Killhope and Nenthead. Enjoy a ride on one of our tourist railways at Stanhope or Alston. Pop into Teesdale to view waterfalls at ‘High Force’, ‘Low Force’, and Cauldron Snout then have tea at Durham Wildlife Trusts’ Bowlees Visitor Centre. Seek out our Christian Heritage at Escomb Saxon Church, Blanchland Abbey, Auckland Castle, and Newbiggin Methodist Chapel.
