Visit the Chapel

The Society at High House welcomes everyone to join them at their regular Sunday services at 10.45am

A visit to the Weardale Museum includes entry to High House Chapel.

This beautiful chapel is not a Museum piece but the Church Council and Museum Trustees welcome groups who want to know more about the chapel as part of a museum visit.

We specialise in visits by groups with members who are mainly in their third age e.g. Historical Societies, Adult Education Classes, Church/Chapel and Christian Heritage groups, Holiday Fellowships, U3A, Age Concern, Probus, Ladies Circle, WI, etc.

“This is the country where
the fires of Methodism took hold,
fanned by an absentee Anglicanism.
There are many chapels in these parts,
many are early and handsome and Ireshopeburn is the best.”

Just like tigers and pandas our rural Methodist chapels with their small congregations are an endangered species. Enjoy the warm welcome offered by the Members of High House Chapel and support our Christian Heritage. Chapel Brochure 2013.pdf A4 Wesley Trail web format.pdf
